The Runaways
The Runaways were important for a number of reasons (they paved the way for decades of female artists) and their story is an interesting one (eventually turned into a motion picture in 2010). But most importantly, the Runaways rocked! Fronted by Joan Jett and Cherie Curie, the all-girl group played loud, guitar-driven rock and roll, turning heads with their raw, punk energy and rebellious single “Cherry Bomb.” They released five albums (four studio and one live) during their brief run from 1975 to 1979, and their influence has only grown more substantial over the years. Crank them up on vinyl!
