Flogging Molly
Flogging Molly is one of the most successful contemporary Celtic punk bands. Formed in 1997 by the Ireland-born Dave King, formerly of the heavy metal band Fastway, the seven-piece ensemble incorporates traditional Irish instruments like the fiddle, mandolin, and accordion with the punk aesthetic of the Clash. They take their name from the L.A. bar where they got their start, Molly Malone’s, and their records explode with the blistering intensity of their live show, balanced by a few slower laments. As any good Irish tune should, Flogging Molly’s music will inspire you to raise a glass.
