Modern Times
Ending a period of almost 5 years without a studio album, “Modern Times” was released in August of 2006 and was his third consecutive critically acclaimed album. Again, Dylan went back to his roots of rock and blues and even added some rockabilly. Self produced by Dylan himself, the mixture of poetic words and lyrics brought this album to the #1 spot which was the first album that hit #1 since 1976. In fact, he was now the oldest musician at 65 to ever debut an album at #1. Considered to be the third in a trilogy of conceptual music, Bob Dylan rebuffed the idea but still continued to market it as such. Many of his songs became a success but most notable were “The Levee’s Gonna Break” and “Thunder on the Mountain” both of course referring to his life in the South.
