Yo La Tengo
There aren’t many indie-rock bands from Hoboken, New Jersey, and there aren’t many indie-rock bands as beloved by critics as Yo La Tengo. Formed in the mid-‘80s, Yo La Tengo features the kinetic combo of singer-guitarist Ira Kaplan and his wife, singer-drummer Georgia Hubley. Since 1992, they have been joined by bassist James McNew. Frequently compared to the Velvet Underground, the band explores a broad palette of sounds and textures from blistering feedback to melodic dream pop. Their eclectic and prolific output over the past 25-plus years is a delight on vinyl.
