Ryan Adams
Ryan Adams is a true singer-songwriter, not defined by genre, who has earned the respect of music’s heavyweights. His 2000 debut solo album, Heartbreaker, inspired Elton John to record Songs from the West Coast; his cover of Oasis’ “Wonderwall” was not only approved but praised as revelatory by Noel Gallagher himself; he was invited by Phil Lesh to perform Grateful Dead classics with Phil Lesh and Friends on their 2005 tour; and he was entrusted by Willie Nelson to produce his album Songbird. Hailing from Jacksonville, North Carolina, Adams has certainly made a name for himself. Whether with his late-’90s alt-country band Whiskeytown, on a solo album featuring Gillian Welch (Heartbreaker) or Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong (Rock N Roll), or performing with his renowned backing band the Cardinals, Adams’ stellar songwriting is undeniable. And it’s all the more impressive on vinyl.
