Los Lobos
This East L.A. Chicano rock band has won numerous Grammys for its embrace of traditional Mexican music and love for American rock, blues, folk, and country. After releasing a few albums in the ‘80s, Los Lobos had a smash hit with their cover of Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba” (which they recorded for the 1987 biopic), and it wasn’t long before they were opening for such heavyweights as Bob Dylan, U2, and the Grateful Dead. One of the most original bands of the last 30 years, Los Lobos find new ways to expand their sound with each album while still staying true to their roots. Listening to their wildly eclectic music on vinyl is a thrill.
