    Dire Straits was an English rock band formed in 1977 by brothers Mark and David Knopfler. They had an extremely successful career for almost 20 years, selling over 100 million albums in the process. While starting out at the height of disco, Dire Straits had a very “classic rock” sound. After releasing their two first albums, Dire Straits took on a more complex sound, and continued to tour and release albums. Their biggest hit came in 1985, with the release of “Brothers in Arms”.
