David Live
In 1974 David Bowie released his first official live album, aptly titled “David Live.” This album was recorded on the first leg of the tour “Diamond Dogs.” Generally thought of as a live transitional album, it was made in between the glam rock of Ziggy Stardust and the soul sounds of Young Americans. The tour itself was the largest to date and included songs such as “Aladdin Sane” and “1984” both from concept albums he had previously released. In particular “Aladdin Sane” was one of the best live versions anyone had ever heard as it used upbeat jazz and Latin sounds that sounded unbelievable live. On this album was also the first release of “All the Young Dudes” which had never been heard before. Bowie later said in an interview that “David Live” was the official end of Ziggy Stardust. Ranking #2 in the UK charts at the time, for his first live album it is a great one for collectors to have.
