Eric Clapton
One of the most influential guitarists of all time and the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, English artist Eric Clapton has made an extraordinary contribution to music over the last five decades. Greatly influenced by blues musicians like Robert Johnson, Clapton (aka Slowhand) forged his own distinctive style of blues-rock in the ‘60s playing with the Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Cream, and Blind Faith. He would continuously redefine his interpretation of the blues over the next four decades throughout his prolific solo career. From his landmark 1970 album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs with his band Derek and the Dominos to his hit cover of Bob Marley’s “I Shot the Sheriff,” definitive version of J.J. Cale’s “Cocaine,” and original classics like “Lay Down Sally” and “Tears in Heaven,” this legendary artist’s solo work is essential on vinyl.
