Born Patricia Louise Holte, Patti LaBelle is a widely renowned and respected American R&B singer and songwriter. Not only does she have an amazing solo career, she also fronted two groups Patti LaBelle & the Bluebelles, as well as Labelle. Known as the “Empress of Soul” she is best known for her passionate stage performances and wide vocal range. She has had many songs, but it was her first number one hit “If Only You Knew” that really gained her the notoriety she deserved. She has followed that up with several wonderful songs such as “Stir It Up,” “On My Own,” and “Lady Marmalade” as well as several others that reached number one. As one of the best performers of modern R&B music, Patti LaBelle is best listened to on vinyl.
