    Sketches of Spain

Sketches of Spain is a musical collaboration between Miles Davis and Gil Evans. This album is unique in that it is not quite pure “jazz”, although, if you follow my definition of jazz (Free musical expression), it is. Upon hearing this criticism, Miles Davis replied “It’s music, and I like it”. This album plays like an orchestral piece (and it is), with heavy classical and Spanish influence. A beautiful work, absolutely essential. It was Miles Davis’ next effort after his masterpiece Kind of Blue, yet was a complete departure from the sound and style of Kind of Blue. This album also did very well, ending up at #356 on Rolling Stone’s top 500 albums list. I believe this album is underrated. The emotions and moods created in the music are absolutely amazing. This is a great album that I cannot recommend highly enough. On Vinyl….Oh man is the sound sweet. Beautiful. Absolutely amazing. Get this album now!
