Miles Davis Volume 2
Miles Davis Volume 2 is a compilation album by Miles Davis with tracks recorded for Blue Note Records on 20 April 1953. Davis’s other Blue Note recordings can be found in the album Miles Davis Volume 1. Although the number of tracks is quite small (six tracks, of which five have alternate versions), the quality of the performance is undeniably strong by any standard. Miles and the band play through those tricky triplets in “Ray’s Idea” and come out very well. The ballads, “Enigma” and “I Waited for You,” show Miles’ less noticed tender side. “Kelo” and “CTA” are two ensemble pieces, with great solos. The highlight of the record is Bud Powell’s “Tempus Fugit,” which also has great solos from Miles.
