A Tribute to Jack Johnson
Miles Davis released Jack Johnson in 1970 in Canada and 1971 in the US. The album is also known as A Tribute to Jack Johnson. The jazz fusion album was recorded as the soundtrack for a documentary about ex heavyweight world champion boxer Jack Johnson. The recording reached number 159 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Jack Johnson was originally released on the Columbia record label, and was produced by Teo Macero. It also featured appearances by several noted musicians including Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, John McLaughlin, and Chick Corea. The album has since been re-mastered and re-released on the legacy label with a different cover.
