The Believer
The Believer is a jazz album by the great saxophonist John Coltrane. The album was recorded and released in 1957 for the Prestige Label. Like most of Coltrane’s Prestige catalog, the record is considered a classic by most fans of jazz music. While much less influenced by the Eastern sounds that would later envelop his music, the album features a more traditional type of jazz music. In Coltrane’s career, the record lies somewhere between the artist’s work with Miles Davis (Coltrane was in fact still with Miles Davis at the time of this recording) and his Atlantic label days and the evolution away from more traditional tunes.
