Gil Evans
Gil Evans was a marvelous jazz pianist, arranger, composer and bandleader from Mexico who was quite popular in the U.S. As a prominent developer of cool jazz, free jazz and modal jazz, Gil Evans worked extensively with the great Miles Davis. After going solo he recorded albums such as “Big Stuff” and “Out of the Cool.” Gil Evans loved Brazilian and Latin music and tried to incorporate a lot of that sound into his music. You can hear his wonderful transcending history throughout jazz music on vinyl.
