  • Country and Folk

Country and Folk music evolved from various indigenous musical forms being played in America. While Folk is a very broad term, and many people would consider Country a sub-genre of Folk, I grouped them together her for simplicity. Folk music is considered a “roots” music, as it is the basis for many of the other musical forms that evolved in the US, including Blues, Jazz and Rock. Folk music reached the widest audience during the 1960’s and 1970’s, when folk music had a major comeback. Country music was popular in the 1940’s to the 1960’s, reinvented itself in the 1980’s, and continues to have a large fanbase that continues to this day.
