As an American composer of concert and film music, Aaron Copland is also considered to be an accomplished pianist. He was instrumental in forging a distinct style of composition and is known as “The Dean of American Composers.” With a balance of modern and folk styles of music, Aaron Copland evokes a great deal of feeling towards the American landscape in much of his music. He incorporates percussive orchestration in his music which you can clearly hear when you listen to his wonderful works such as his groundbreaking “Billy the Kid” score on vinyl. As his first major success in ballet music, “Billy the Kid” showed much of the strong technique that Copland was famous for.
