    Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera written by famed writers Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Released as a double album in 1970, it is based on the accounts of the last weeks of Jesus’ life but focuses more on the interpersonal relationships of major characters such as Judas, Mary Magdalene and Jesus. The album reached #1 on the Billboard Chart in 1971 and served as a catalyst to numerous stage productions both on Broadway and in London’s West End. Listening to Jesus Christ Superstar on vinyl is a moving experience, especially with songs such as “This Jesus Must Die” and “Superstar.”
