Bessie Smith
Bessie Smith, an American Blues singer, was one of the most popular female blues singers of the 1920’s and 1930’s. Critically acclaimed, Bessie Smith is still regarded as one of the greatest singers of her era and a major influence on future jazz vocalists to come. With popular songs such as “Gulf Coast Blues” and “Downhearted Blues” Bessie Smith made over 160 recordings, some with some of the best musicians to ever live. Some of her recordings were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame such as “St. Louis Blues” and “Empty Bed Blues.” Bessie Smith sounds amazing on vinyl where you can really hear the power behind her voice.
