Johann Strauss
Johann Strauss has written over 500 waltzes, polkas, gallops, and marches as a famed Austrian composer. As the most famous member of the Strauss family of composers, he was referred to as “The Waltz King” because of his influence on the waltz in Vienna during the 19th century. Incredibly, Johann Strauss revolutionized it, elevating it from a peasant dance to the dance of the royal Habsburg court. With famous works such as “The Blue Danube,” “Tales from the Vienna Woods,” and “Kaiser-Walzer” Johann Strauss reached such levels of success that his father or brothers could never dream to attain. Many of his operettas and dance pieces can be heard on vinyl where you get a true representation of the talent that Johann Strauss had.
