Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Though its members’ backgrounds were in punk and alternative rock, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy took its inspiration from big-band music of the ‘40s and ‘50s and helped lead a ‘90s swing revival with the Squirrel Nut Zippers and the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies. The Southern California swing-revival band found mainstream success in 1996 when its songs “You & Me & the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby),” “I Wan’na Be Like You,” and “Go Daddy-O” were featured in the soundtrack to the film Swingers, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has been releasing albums ever since. Their music was made to be enjoyed on vinyl with a stiff cocktail in hand.
