Blur
An English rock band fronted by singer-keyboardist Damon Albarn (Gorillaz), Blur was a major force in ‘90s Britpop right alongside Manchester’s Oasis. Though it took until 1997 for Blur to achieve mainstream success in the US – which it did with the hit “Song 2” off its more indie-rock self-titled album, Blur’s early-‘90s releases (Leisure, Modern Life Is Rubbish, Parklife, The Great Escape) remain quintessential Britpop albums and the band part of Britain’s rich musical legacy.
