Jeff Beck
Jeff Beck is an English rock guitarist that ranks among the best of the best. He had a brief but significant run with the Yardbirds in the mid-’60s and went on to form the Jeff Beck Group in 1967 with Rod Stewart on vocals, Ronnie Wood on bass, Nicky Hopkins on piano, and eventually Micky Waller on drums. Together they released two albums before disbanding in 1969, including the 1968 album, Truth, which has proved extremely influential to the heavy metal genre. In the ’70s, Beck began performing with a reformed Jeff Beck Group as well as with the Beck, Bogert & Appice power trio featuring the former Vanilla Fudge rhythm section of bassist Tim Bogert and drummer Carmine Appice. Beck also began recording jazz-rock instrumental records, most notably 1975’s Blow by Blow. A versatile musician and influential sound innovator, Beck is a true guitarist’s guitarist. After listening to him on vinyl, it’s no wonder he has inspired so many people to pick up the guitar.
