Gary Moore
Widely regarded by his peers as one of the greatest guitar players of all time, Gary Moore could hold a note forever. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Moore was largely influenced by Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green, and while he mastered many styles he always had a knack for blues-rock. Playing multiple stints with Thin Lizzy in the ’70s, Moore’s distinct licks and tone can be heard on such Lizzy hits as “Still in Love with You” (from 1974’s Nightlife), and their classic 1979 album Black Rose: A Rock Legend. Moore also enjoyed a string of U.K. solo hits in the late ’70s and early ’80s, returning to his blues roots in the ’90s. He continued to release solo albums until his death in 2011, and collaborated with everyone from George Harrison to B.B. King and Ozzy Osbourne.
