Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid
Released in 1973 for the movie of the same name, “Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid” was a composition of mainly instrumental music. The one big stand out hit on this album was a song that would go on to be covered several times in music and that is “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” Bob Dylan was asked to record the soundtrack to this movie as a favor to his friend Wurlitzer who had written the original screenplay. Quickly written by Dylan, but nonetheless a great album, Dylan enjoyed his newfound fame in the movie industry and even was asked to appear as the character “Alias” in the film.
