The Cult
These heavy metal revivalists first achieved success at home in the U.K. as a post-punk band with the release of 1985’s Love, an album that mixes psychedelic hard rock with new wave goth. Their next album, 1987’s Electric, was a pivotal one as it marked a stylistic change into more metal territory and, along with 1989’s Sonic Temple, helped break the band into the U.S. mainstream. After a few hiatuses, the Cult is still going strong with a killer new album, Choice of Weapon, and a classic ’80s catalog that has aged incredibly well and sounds awesome on vinyl.
