Anthrax
Anthrax is considered one of the “Big Four” Metal bands. Starting out in New York in 1981, Anthrax went through several lineup changes until the mid 1980’s, when they entered their Joey Belladonna era. During this time, the band enjoyed almost immediate success. Signed to Megaforce records (of Metallica fame), Anthrax was assured of great things to come. They released a steady stream of albums in the 1980’s and early 1990’s, until Joey Belladonna was replaced by Armored Saint’s John Bush. Anthrax was also one of the first groups to merge hip-hop and metal, doing collaborations with Public Enemy and The Beastie Boys. Anthrax is still recording and performing, although their lineup has changed significantly. Scott Ian has a very distinctive guitar playing style, and it comes through heavily and powerful on vinyl.
