  • Poison

Poison is a glam-metal band that dominated the charts in the second half of the ’80s with party anthems and power ballads like “Talk Dirty to Me” and “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.” Formed in Harrisburg, PA by singer Bret Michaels, bassist Bobby Dall, and drummer Rikki Rockett, the band was originally called Paris. After relocating to Los Angeles and recruiting guitarist C.C. DeVille (who famously beat out Slash for the position), they changed their name to Poison and released their debut album, Look What the Cat Dragged In, in 1986. The album was a surprise success, selling over two million copies within a year of its release. This was topped by 1988’s Open Up and Say…Ahh!, Poison’s commercial breakthrough. Enduring much longer than glam-metal, Poison continues to make records and play to sold-out arenas.
