Uriah Heep
The progressive heavy metal band Uriah Heep was one of the most popular British hard-rock groups of the ’70s. Formed in London in 1969 by singer David Byron and guitarist Mick Box, the band hit its stride in 1972 with its highly successful Demons and Wizards album. They kept the momentum going and released four more albums before 1975 including their top-selling Return to Fantasy. Now a cult band in the U.S., Uriah Heep retains a significant following in Europe and countries around the world. And they’re still releasing new music! (The most recent offering being 2011’s Into the Wild.) Considering some of Uriah Heep’s distinguishing characteristics are massive keyboard sounds and great vocal harmonies, is there any way you’d want to hear this band other than on vinyl?
