Clouds
This ‘60s Scottish rock trio was significant in that it was guitar-less. Featuring bassist/singer Ian Ellis, drummer Harry Hughes, and rock keyboard pioneer Billy Ritchie, the group evolved from the organ-focused band The Premiers to 1-2-3 and then to Clouds, laying the blueprint for prog-rock along the way. The influential trio has received numerous accolades from the likes of David Bowie, and organist Ritchie is credited as paving the way for other great keyboardists like Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson. But most importantly, their distinctive guitar-less, organ-driven sound is awesome on vinyl.
