Nirvana
Nirvana was a band, that despite only existing for about 5 years, made an enormous impact on the rock music scene. Nirvana started out in 1989, and was one of the first bands in the Seattle “grunge” scene to get discovered by a wide audience. Their career produced several hits, but Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is a standout as one of the most famous songs ever written in popular music. Their sound is raw, and intense, yet also showing a delicacy and softer side. Nirvana enjoyed a few years of fame before Kurt Cobain committed suicide, which led the band’s dismemberment. Nirvana’s drummer, Dave Grohl has continued his musical career (most notably in the Foo Fighters), achieving success far beyond what he did in Nirvana.
