Steve Perry
You know him as the guy who led the band Journey through arena-rock anthems like “Don’t Stop Believin'” with his shaggy brown hair and aerodynamic voice. And while Steve Perry did provide lead vocals on nine of Journey’s albums, he also released two studio albums and a compilation under his name and his name alone. The first of these came in 1984 with Street Talk, which went double platinum and featured a sound very similar to Journey’s. It produced the Top-10 hit “Oh Sherrie” and four other Top-40 hits including “Foolish Heart.” A follow-up titled Against the Wall was recorded in 1988 but never released; however, a few tracks from these sessions did surface on 1998’s Greatest Hits + Five Unreleased. Instead, Perry followed Street Talk with For the Love of Strange Medicine in 1994. Named one of the greatest singers of all time by Rolling Stone, Steve Perry is just plain incredible on vinyl.
