Roxette
Thanks to an American exchange student named Dean Cushman who brought a copy of Swedish pop duo Roxette’s second album, Look Sharp!, back home with him to a Minneapolis radio station, hits like “The Look,” “Listen to Your Heart,” and “Joyride” became part of the American popular music lexicon, and “It Must Have Been Love” became part of the Pretty Woman soundtrack. However, Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle’s new wave power-pop was soon overshadowed by the US grunge explosion and they took the second half of the ’90s off. Despite sporadic touring and hiatuses, Roxette have remained a radio staple, selling over 70 million albums worldwide. Now, 25 years after their formation, Roxette return with their first album in a decade, Charm School, and a worldwide tour in its support.
