As one of the most well known pianists and singers, Ray Charles was a pioneer of the R&B sound with his soulful country music twang along with his well received pop standards. With greats such as Frank Sinatra calling him the only true genius in the business, it was hard not to love this marvelous singer. Blind by the age of seven, Ray Charles overcame a huge amount of adversity to bring us songs like “A Fool for You” and “Georgia on My Mind.” With over 50 years of recordings, Ray Charles was one of the first inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and won dozens of awards throughout his life. His astounding singing is best heard on vinyl when you can really appreciate the gift Ray Charles brought all of us.
