Cyndi Lauper
Cyndi Lauper is the ultimate ’80s pop icon: self-confident, effervescent, and subversive – a leader in colorful New Wave fusion. Her 1983 debut She’s So Unusual (a record collection essential) made her the first female artist to have four Top-5 singles from one album in the Billboard Hot 100 (“Time After Time,” “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “She Bop,” and “All Through the Night”) and subsequently inspired a generation of women to die their hair bright colors and celebrate life. Lauper followed this up with 1986’s True Colors featuring the chart-topping title track and Top-10 single “Change of Heart.” While subsequent albums never matched the success of her early work, Lauper remains an influential artist and is especially fun to listen to on vinyl.
