Though he emerged on the country scene in the ‘80s with his acclaimed self-titled debut followed by his mainstream breakthrough, Pontiac, Texan singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett has had a very eclectic career, his talents more in line with songwriters like Randy Newman and Townes Van Zandt than the Nashville crop. Combining elements of country, blues, folk, pop, gospel, and swing into a sort of modern Americana, Lovett and his “Large Band” (a Western big band ensemble) boast a diverse catalog that sounds amazing on vinyl.
