Jeff Bridges
Most people know him as “The Dude” thanks to his unforgettable performance in the 1998 Coen Brothers film The Big Lebowski, but Jeff Bridges the musician is just as convincing. He self-released an album titled Be Here Soon in 2000 with Michael McDonald; then, after playing the role of country music singer Otis “Bad” Blake in the 2009 film Crazy Heart and performing several songs for the soundtrack, Bridges was inspired to record another album. This time out he partnered with producer and songwriter T-Bone Burnett, whom he’d first met on the set of Heaven’s Gate (1980) and collaborated with on the set of Crazy Heart. The two recorded what would be Bridges’ 2011 self-titled major label debut, an intimate album of blues and country hymns on which Bridges sings, co-writes, and plays guitar. Five words: The Dude abides on vinyl.
