John Cage
The American composer, John Cage, was a pioneer of chance and electronic music, as well as revolutionary in the non-standard use of musical instruments. Considered in the eyes of many to be one of the most influential American composers of the 20th century, John Milton Cage, Jr. was also instrumental in the development of modern dance. Known best for his 1952 composition 4’33”, the three movements which are performed without a single note being played, his unique look at the sounds of the environment were just one way that John Cage changed how the world looked at musical composition. Listening to his amazing works such as “Sonatas and Interludes” on vinyl is just one way in which you get a good look into the inner workings of the mind of John Cage.
