  • Kenny Wayne Shepherd

If there’s one thing you can count on with Kenny Wayne Shepherd, it’s great guitar tones. The self-taught, Louisiana-born blues rocker cut his teeth on Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Albert Lee licks at age seven and by age 13 was playing onstage alongside New Orleans bluesman Bryan Lee. Perhaps Shepherd’s most impressive feat, however, was achieving major commercial success as a blues artist in the mid-’90s. His 1995 debut album, Ledbetter Heights, sold over 500,000 copies the year it was released, and its 1997 Grammy-nominated follow-up, Trouble Is…, holds the record for the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Charts. Tackling a range of styles including acoustic blues, blues-rock, Texas blues, and Louisiana blues, Shepherd sizzles on vinyl.
